It is said that this fruit contains over 200 bioactive substances and has been used as a herbal raw material for centuries. Graviola stimulates the immune system, can protect the body from infections and tones the whole body. Soursop (Annona muricata) is a species of deciduous, flowering, evergreen tree in the genus Annona, native to the Caribbean and Central America, but widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical climates throughout the world. Its fruit is edible, greenish-yellow in color, irregularly shaped, and covered with small needles. It is also called graviola, soursop, or guanabana.
The core of the fruit is white in color with black seeds, juicy and slightly sour in taste. The tree itself reaches up to 6 meters in height, and its fruits can reach up to 6 kilograms. The graviola fruit contains fructose, acetogenins, iron, magnesium, sodium, phytonutrients, vitamin C and a number of B vitamins, calcium, phosphorus, zinc, proteins, carbohydrates and fats.
The different parts of the plant have a wide range of therapeutic properties. The fruits and juice of graviola can reduce high temperatures. They are effective in diarrhea and dysentery and eliminate all parasites. The seeds of graviola have strong antiparasitic properties and can be used to treat lice.
