Mattisson's Peptan® Type 1 Marine Collagen Blend is based on collagen extracted from the skin of wild-caught or farmed fish. Marine collagen (also called fish collagen) is the closest in chemical composition to the collagen in the human body and is much better absorbed than collagen obtained from other animals. Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body. It is found in the skin, joints, bones, muscles and cartilage. It is rich in proteins that contribute to the maintenance of healthy bones and the growth of muscle mass. Collagen is a complete source of protein, containing 18 amino acids (the building blocks of proteins). The concentration of amino acids in collagen is different compared to other protein products.
