Nature's Way's rich and powerful immune-boosting blend contains a mix of 6 medicinal mushrooms: maitake extract (standardized to 30% polysaccharides, including beta-glucans), reishi, enokitake, shiitake, chaga, and himematsutake. This combination boosts the immune system and increases energy levels.
Each of the mushrooms contained in this rich blend has a powerful immunomodulatory effect. Let's look at each one individually:
- Maitake (standardized extract up to 30% polysaccharides, including beta-glucans - 150mg) - A strong adaptogen, increasing energy levels in the body, contains vitamins B and D, amino acids and minerals. Beta-glucan is a polysaccharide of key importance for normal health.
According to some studies, maitake mushroom extract may help support the body's ability to fight cancer on its own. Maitake is also thought to have properties similar to alpha-glucosidase inhibitors, which affect the way we digest carbohydrates and may help lower blood sugar levels.
- Reishi - This mushroom has many beneficial effects on health, the most popular of which is the immunostimulating one. In addition, it has antiviral effects and is a good remedy for flu conditions. The polysaccharides contained in this mushroom are the reason for its immunostimulating effect, and also a remedy that is believed to be able to additionally support conventional cancer treatment. It is used to reduce symptoms such as sweating, insomnia, nausea and vomiting.
- Enokitake - The extract of this mushroom has a strong immunostimulating effect, and also benefits cardiovascular health. The extract contains beta-glucans and the immunomodulatory protein lectin, which helps promote natural antioxidant production, balances the immune response and supports liver health.
- Shiitake - This mushroom is known for its effectiveness as an immune tonic. Again, a polysaccharide extract that has beneficial effects on cancers and various viral infections. It has effects as a cholesterol-lowering agent, but taking this mushroom by people taking blood-thinning medications should only be done under medical supervision.
- Chaga - This mushroom is high in both beta-glucans and betulinic acid. It has an extremely high antioxidant activity, thanks to its high content of super oxide dismutase (SOD). It has powerful anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects. This oxide has been studied for its effectiveness in combating a number of autoimmune conditions, including psoriasis. Its ability to stimulate natural killer cells also makes it a good aid in combating tumor formations. It also helps lower cholesterol levels and improves insulin resistance.
- Himematsutake - This mushroom is used to help treat tumors, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, "hardening of the arteries" (atherosclerosis), hepatitis B, digestive problems such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, and to reduce the side effects of chemotherapy in cancer patients.
